What I Offer
I am an experienced mathematics teacher with experience teaching at a top 5% high school in the United States, having taught many subjects from Pre-algebra through AP Statistics/College Statistics, to students in middle school through Graduate School. After my first child was born, I decided to continue my passion for teaching in the form of teaching students 1:1 or in a small group and also embrace the flexibility that comes with it. I have logged over 4000 hours of tutoring , and have taught students from all over the United States, East to West coast.
I utilize various technologies to work with students online, from screen-sharing applications to review work and concepts, video chatting to foster relationships and engagement, and note sharing to support reinforcement and review.
My drive to help my students perform better is evident in my AP scores. 92.1% of my students earned a 4 or above on the 2017 AP Statistics Exam compared to 28.8 % of all Exam takers.
My latest SAT student from Montgomery High School, NJ had a 240 point increase after 12 classes. The most recent student who I tutored in AP Stat from Hillsborough High School (NJ) had a 76% when he started with me in November. He ended the year with an A and was exempt from his final.

What my students say:
“Ms. Thambidurai was my AP Statistics teacher during my senior year of high school. Like many seniors, I didn’t try as much as I probably should have in school. Ms. T somehow cut through my lazy senior-self and managed to keep me and my peers engaged during class. She teaches with a distinct vibrant energy that makes new, complex material easy and fun to learn. When students are confused, she’s always willing to explain concepts as many times as we need. Ms. T created a learning environment that was genuinely fun and effective. She pushed us to learn and at the same time never made us feel embarrassed if we were confused.
I’m a college student now at UC Berkeley. The foundation in statistics and math that Ms. T built in me has honestly been a lifesaver. This past semester, I took a data science class that blends statistics and computer science for data analytics. A huge part of the reason I did well in that class was because of Ms. T’s class in high school. Her teaching helped me retain information for over a year! I’ve talked to my friends who Ms. T also taught and they’ve had similar experiences. I wish my current professors were as effective as Ms. T is!”
